Shell predicts a 50% increase in global LNG consumption.

Global demand for liquefied natural gas is expected to increase by more than 50% by 2040 as China and other Asian countries switch from highly polluting coal, according to a new report from Shell.

In Shell’s LNG Outlook 2024, the Anglo-Dutch oil major said a surge in natural gas demand in Asia would boost LNG demand and offset lower demand in regions where gas consumption has already peaked, such as Europe, Australia and Japan.
