Solana-based shooter Nyan Heroes is offering double “MEOW” points in its Play-Airdrop campaign this weekend, 9 Lives Interactive said on Friday. Epic Games Store.
Gamers looking to participate in the Enhanced Play-Airdrop event will have to earn double the standard reward points for playing games and completing missions from March 30 to April 1, the company said.
Nyan Heroes players can earn MEOW points by playing the game until the pre-alpha demo is removed by Epic Games on April 9, and those points will eventually be converted into an allotment of NYAN tokens that will be released soon on Solana.
“Play-to-airdrop” refers to recent campaigns in blockchain games that incentivize players by dangling potential token rewards in front of them. In Nyan Heroes, players can earn MEOW points for airdrops by completing in-game missions based on earning victories, running along walls, and re-creating the cat’s mechanical suit after it is destroyed.
A pre-alpha demo version of Nyan Heroes was released on the Epic Game Store for PC on Tuesday. Developed by 9 Lives Interactive, Nyan Heroes is a team-based shooter similar to Overwatch that leverages the Solana blockchain for digital assets.
In Nyan Heroes, players take on the role of a cat mech pilot. As interest in Nyan Heroes grows, 9 Lives Interactive announced a partnership with G2 Esports on Wednesday.
“Solana games are going mainstream,” the Solana Foundation tweeted Tuesday. “After becoming the #7 game on our Epic Games Store wishlist, Nyan Heroes is now available for everyone to play!”
The Solana blockchain has become a popular network for cryptocurrency gaming thanks to its low costs and high transaction speeds. Last January, Solana-based space travel game Star Atlas conducted a stress test with 1,000 players on its private service.
Proof-of-stake blockchain Solana’s SOL token, currently one of the top five cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, is up 12% this week and is now above $191.
