Stock markets will be closed on May 20 due to voting in the Mumbai Lok Sabha elections.

MUMBAI – The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has announced a trading holiday on May 20 due to the Mumbai assembly polls, according to a circular issued this morning.

Accordingly, the derivatives contracts of the Nifty Midcap Select contract, which were due to expire on May 20, will now expire on May 17.

Additionally, the maturity date of Nifty Midcap Select options contract will be May 17 instead of May 20, NSE said.

The Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra will be held in five phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13 and May 20.

On May 20, voting will be held in the Lok Sabha seats of Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai South, Mumbai South Central, Mumbai North Central and Palghar.

The market will also be closed on May 1 to commemorate Maharashtra Day.See more…
