The future of home Bitcoin mining is bright

Perhaps the best way to decentralize the Bitcoin network is through home mining, and things are moving in the right direction.

Yesterday, Solo Satoshi announced his latest device in the field of home Bitcoin mining: the Bitaxe Touch.

This new device utilizes the BM1370 ASIC chip from Bitmain S21 Pro and can reach hashrates of up to 1.6TH/s.

It also features a touch screen that displays Bitcoin network statistics, including overall network hash rate, overall network difficulty, and block height.

One of the things driving innovations like the Bitaxe Touch is the work of Open Source Miners United, a Discord group started by Skot of Bitaxe with more than 5,500 members where home mining enthusiasts share ideas and blueprints for new devices.

This group was formed to allow anyone who would like to contribute to the development of the Bitaxe project to do so, and also offers grants to specific contributors.

Once Block releases its own ASIC chips, these contributors’ jobs will likely become easier. Mining device developers can use these chips in their own computers.

And for those who aren’t that technically inclined but still want to get into the home mining space (and live in colder climates), they can always buy the Heatbit, which is basically a plug-and-play home mine. This is a mining device that also acts as a space heater and air purifier.

Despite all these new devices coming to the market, I still believe that we are in the early stages of the home Bitcoin mining movement and that this space will continue to blossom as more developers and regular people get involved.

In fact, the future of home mining looks bright.
