The Litecoin Foundation has partnered with the San Diego International Film Festival.

Yesterday, the Litecoin Foundation, a Singapore-based non-profit organization established to support the marketing and adoption of Litecoin, announced the launch of a new partnership with the San Diego International Film Festival (SDIFF).

According to a post on the foundation’s website, each 2019 SDIFF attendee who purchases a six-day festival pass for the event, which takes place October 15-20 this year, will each receive Litecoin. The idea is that more people will be exposed to technology and payment methods. These attendees are encouraged to donate their coins to films accepted for this year’s festival lineup, with special awards and cash prizes awarded to the filmmakers/films that receive the most.

The filmmaker/film with the most Litecoin donations will receive a Litecoin Foundation award at the Filmmakers Awards Show on Saturday, October 19th. Litecoin rewards include an additional $1,000 in Litecoin currency.

Foundation members will be on hand to educate attendees about the transformative power of Litecoin and help them earn free LTC.

Tonya Mantooth, CEO and Artistic Director of SDIFF, said in a statement about the partnership:

“ Embracing cutting-edge digital currencies like Litecoin’s cryptocurrency not only allows us to explore new technologies with our audiences, but also provides financial support to the filmmakers who make the festival possible. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate with passionate filmmakers with such strong perspectives. We want to share this perspective with festival sponsors and provide financial support to help filmmakers continue to tell their stories. We would like to thank the Litecoin Foundation for helping us make this happen. ”

Charlie Lee, founder of Litecoin and executive director of the foundation, said in his statement about the partnership:

“Mass adoption requires two things: awareness and actual use cases.” “The film industry checks both of these boxes in a compelling way. Litecoin has the potential to be a powerful tool for film financing, and by partnering with creative and influential people in this space, we have the opportunity to introduce Litecoin to millions of individuals around the world.”

In addition to the sponsorship, Lee has also signed on as executive producer for the upcoming film ‘We Summon The Darkness’, a classy horror/thriller set in the 1980s heavy metal scene starring Alexandra Daddario, Johnny Knoxville and Maddie. Kyle Tekiela produced by Hasson, Logan Miller, Keean Johnson, Amy Forsyth and Austin Swift.

Tekiela is the founder of ‘Common Enemy’ and has worked on several projects, most notably his role as executive producer on the Academy Award-nominated film Mudbound. Tekiela also took on a volunteer role within the foundation towards its goals.

As part of the partnership, the Litecoin Foundation will receive ‘corporate credit’ and the organization’s logo will be animated at the beginning of the film. According to the announcement, We Summon The Darkness premiered at numerous festivals and received “high praise.”

Lee plans to donate the proceeds from the movie to the Litecoin Foundation. Tekiela said of his partnership with the foundation:

“As a filmmaker, Litecoin and the underlying blockchain technology open up tremendous opportunities for financing your films, paying suppliers and crew, and distributing finished products.” “Current banking systems with expensive escrows, wire transfer fees, and limited bank hours for fund transfers are outdated and cumbersome in today’s digital world. Litecoin and the Litecoin Foundation are forward thinking and proactively working to provide solutions to the challenges we face in the film business.”
