The trader sent a malicious reply to Sebi regarding insider trading and was fined Rs 20 lakh.

A stock trader who was investigated for alleged insider trading sent a defamatory reply to markets regulator Sebi, following which he was fined Rs 20 lakh.

Rajat Mishra, the notifier in the matter, responded to Sebi with an offensive phrase: “Notice de rxxe ho ya bxxxk mxxxg rxxe ho”.

In this regard, no reply was received from SCN on merits from Mishra.

Earlier, Mishra responded to the summons on March 7 and said that video calls were possible at any time. Accordingly, Sebi advised him to appear before the investigating authorities at the Common Investor Service Center in Lucknow through video call. However, that notice did not appear.

Sebi then sent another email on March 22, and Mishra was given another opportunity to appear before the investigating authorities via video call. In response to hints that he would appear before the investigating authorities, Mishra replied, “Ek bxxp ki axxxd ho to axxxt kxxo.” “Later, the Information Services Center Lucknow informed the regulator that Rajat Mishra had not even come to the office,” the order said, noting that the investigation process was hampered by the notice’s failure to appear before the investigating authorities and his callous attitude and response to the regulator by Sebi. It shows complete disregard for the issue,” the order said, despite being given the opportunity on March 22 and March 26 this year, the authority is also being questioned through video calls from the Joint Investor Service Center in Lucknow.

If the fine is not paid within 45 days, Sebi may initiate consequential action including recovery proceedings along with interest on attachment and sale of movable and immovable property.
