Tom Brady mocks FTX and cryptocurrency investments on Netflix Roast.

Star NFL quarterback Tom Brady received a lot of criticism for his cryptocurrency investments during a three-hour live Netflix comedy roast on Sunday.

“The Roast of Tom Brady,” which was recorded and is still available on streaming platforms, features several sharp jokes about Brady’s affections. Bitcoin and its relationship with the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX. And it didn’t take long for password jokes to appear.

Within the first five minutes of the comedy special, host and comedian Kevin Hart addressed his role as the elephant in the room.

“Now, I know what you’re asking yourself right now. You’re saying, ‘Guys, why didn’t we go downtown to the Crypto.com Arena? The reason we didn’t go there is because we didn’t go.’ “I don’t want to remind Tom’s fans how much he owes,” Hart said. “He fucked those people. Tom fucked those people.”

Hart appears to be alluding to the time Brady spent as a spokesperson for Crypto.com’s former competitor, FTX.

I think it’s fair to point out that Hart has had his own cryptocurrency mishaps. He recently sold his Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT at an 83% loss, and in 2019, he was named as a defendant in a $7 million class-action lawsuit over cryptocurrency project FLiK’s fraudulent ICO.

Brady and his ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, announced in 2021 that they had acquired a stake in FTX. The celebrity couple appeared in a series of commercials and live events alongside FTX founder and convicted felon Sam Bankman-Fried.

However, after the exchange collapsed, it was announced that the $30 million in fees had been paid almost entirely in FTX’s official token, FTT, which plummeted shortly before FTX filed for bankruptcy. Now, Brady and Bündchen are facing a class action lawsuit from FTX investors and customers for their efforts to promote FTX. They are holding the exchange accountable for encouraging people to use it.

Several celebrities have already reached agreements, including Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and YouTube influencers Tom Nash and Kevin Paffrath. However, Brady and Bündchen are still defendants in the case.

That may be why Brady looked visibly uneasy when comedian Nikki Glaser mocked him for doing business with FTX.

“Tom also lost $30 million in cryptocurrency. Tom, how did you get into that idea? Even Gronk said, ‘I know that’s not real money,'” Glaser said. “Gronk actually uses Bitcoin, where he chews up a handful of nickels.”

The “Gronk” she was referring to was NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski, a longtime teammate of Brady’s. At some point in 2021, Gronkowski announced that he had joined Brady’s Autograph NFT platform.
