Updated haircuts for new collateral options and derivatives trading
We expand our trading family as we do derivatives with new collateral currencies, updated haircuts and existing assets. This update provides Kraken Pro Traders with the flexibility to manage positions and hedge risks in a dynamic market. See what’s new, how the collateral of the Kraken Pro derivatives works, and what it means to you.
At a glance:
- AAVE, CAD, DAI, Nearby, Mana, Render, Rune, STX, STX, SUI, TAO, XLM and XTZ are now provided as a collateral that can be moved to derivatives wallets.
- BTC and ethical haircuts are decreasing. Others now match the Spot Margin level to provide a consistent trading experience and make it easier to manage the collateral in both products (see here).
- Pyusd will be listed as collateral.
- AUD and CAD extend the number of Fiat currencies provided by 0% haircut.
Summary: ‘haircuts’ and multilateral derivatives transactions
We support Somewhat Derivatives transactions can be deposited as collateral as “derivatives wallets”, not USD or Stablecoin. We apply certain “haircuts” (reduced valid value) to specific encryption mortgages based on volatile profiles. By default, to use encryption assets as collateral, small parts of the value are considered as a margin. This does not affect the actual value of the assets or does not cause a fee. The haircut also applies to unauthorized profits/losses and financing to help maintain safety margins of trading systems.

We also updated the haircuts on many existing assets. Lower haircuts generally mean that the value of the asset can be used as collateral, while the higher the haircut, the more conservative evaluation.

Keep in mind
It should be noted that mortgage assets transferred to derivatives wallets cannot be withdrawn while exchanging assets used to open gift positions to other calls or withdrawal while the position is open. Such assets are maintained as collateral and can be found in the account balance, but they are limited to trading or withdrawal to the field wallet until the position is closed.
