US charges three counts in connection with Evolved Apes NFT fraud

“Defendants engaged in fraud to drive up prices for digital works of art through false promises about video game development,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement. “They say they took investor money, didn’t develop the game, and pocketed the proceeds. Digital art may be new, but old rules still apply. It’s illegal to make false promises for money.”
