wallet.dat – Bitcoin Core on Linux Mint claims not to store wallet backups, but any possible explanation?

Linux Mint. Bitcoin Core 0.21.0.

Go to “File” and “Backup Wallet” and then select a random location. I tried /home/a and /tmp Others.

Every time Bitcoin Core says the file was successfully saved to the location I selected.

Then check its location in the GUI file manager and terminal. The WALLET .DAT backup file is not there!

I swear I’m not making this up and I’ve tried everything to enable “Show hidden files” and make sure I’m not doing something wrong.

The files are not saved, even if Bitcoin Core claims to have saved them. why?

It’s not in my file system. The only wallet.dat that exists is the actual wallet stored by Bitcoin Core itself and is stored in: /home/a/.var/app/org.bitcoincore.bitcoin-qt/data/blablabla/wallet.dat

At this point, I was starting to truly question my own sanity as well as QA in Linux/Bitcoin Core, as I was trying and asking and searching a lot of things.

This is much worse than the various file nonsense in Windows. Is there some secret, well-hidden setting that requires me to enable “actually show files” or something else? Besides “Show hidden files”?
