Worldcoin integrates with Shopify, Mercado Libre, Minecraft, Reddit, and Telegram.
According to a December 12 announcement, Worldcoin has launched a new version of its World ID feature called “World ID 2.0.”
The new version integrates with Shopify, Mercado Libre, Reddit, and Telegram, allowing users to prove their humanity to these platforms.
According to the announcement, the new app integration adds to features already present, including Discord, Talent Protocol, and Okta’s Auth0. The new version also allows app developers to choose from different authentication levels, from ‘Light’ to ‘Maximum’.
According to the announcement, these new levels are intended to “give people more ways to use World ID based on the security requirements of their applications and ensure that individuals do not share more information than is necessary or desired for a particular application.” It will. For example, an app that requires high security may require the user to have an orb-authenticated ID, while an application that focuses more on convenience may only require a “device-authenticated” world ID linked to the user’s phone.

Woldcoin claimed that the new feature will help reduce losses due to bots, but will not require users to provide personal information to the apps they are using. Citing a report from CNBC, it claimed that retailers are losing $100 billion a year due to ‘return fraud, bots, and coupon stacking.’”
World Coin was first launched in July. It has been controversial due to its highest security level of authentication, which involves scanning the user’s iris and generating a zero-knowledge proof of the scan, which some have criticized could lead to biometric information leaks. WorldCoin defended this practice, claiming that it only stores evidence of iris scans and not the scans themselves.
