Customers who pre-ordered the Solana “Chapter 2” smartphone are already reaping the benefits thanks to a token airdrop bonus offered by Cat ahead of the phone’s expected launch in 2025.
The team behind Solana meme coins Maneki (MANEKI) and Cat in a Dogs World (MEW) airdropped tokens to the wallets of those who pre-ordered Chapter 2. Market value is maintained.
On April 1, 37,600 MEW was airdropped to eligible Solana wallets. On Wednesday, 5,199 MANEKI were transferred to the same wallet, and the price of MANEKI has only increased over the past day.
MANEKI rose 71.6% to an all-time high of $0.02 on Thursday on news of the airdrop. MEW hit an all-time high of $0.009 on March 31st. The cat-themed token is currently down 10.4%.
The total value of the two meme coins gifted to each buyer Thursday morning was $459. This is higher than the original price announced for the device in January. According to pricing data from CoinGecko, the MEW and MANEKI tokens available in pre-order wallets are worth $359 as of this writing.
Solana Chapter 2 buyers received 114,858,914.9661 Wuffi (WUF) tokens, worth approximately $24.76. 800,000 iq50 (IQ50) tokens, worth approximately $16.29. 20 million Catwifhat (CWIF) tokens, worth approximately $4.96. That adds about $46 to the overall shipping cost, bringing the total to just over $405.
Last January, Solana Labs announced the Saga Chapter 2 phone after the original Solana Saga sold out thanks to the increased value of included benefits, including airdrops and free NFTs.
Chapter 2’s latest airdrop was cat-themed, but it was actually a dog-themed token that sparked the original Saga sellout. BONK, a dog-themed meme coin, offered 30 million tokens to each Saga buyer. And by December, the coin had gained so much value that the value of the airdrop was higher than the price of the phone itself.
The frenzied sales prompted other Solana projects to offer free tokens and NFTs to Saga owners, further increasing interest in Solana Labs’ smartphone efforts and sparking demand for Chapter 2.
