Coinbase requires UK users to complete a risk authorization form.
Coinbase requires UK users to fill out a form telling them what type of investor they are and confirming that they understand the high-risk nature of cryptocurrency investments, in line with the UK financial regulator’s guidance.
According to an email seen by The Block, the exchange said UK users must complete both tasks to continue using their Coinbase accounts.
“You will also need to complete a brief assessment designed to ensure that you understand the risks associated with investing in cryptocurrency assets, which the FCA considers to be high-risk investments. A suitability assessment is essential to ensure that you: “Make informed investment decisions,” the email mentions on the risk assessment form.
This measure comes ahead of the Financial Conduct Authority’s financial promotion rules that take effect on January 8. This rule forces exchanges to provide more risk warnings on their platforms. Exchanges including Coinbase and OKX have been working with cryptocurrency exchange Archax. To obtain approval for financial promotions. Other exchanges such as Binance and Kraken have also recently enacted similar measures.
