Luxury sneaker brand Adidas partners with STEPN to launch NFT sneakers

STEPN, a Move-to-Earn platform that gamifies physical fitness, has partnered with global sports brand Adidas to launch non-fungible generative token sneakers. The partnership also aims to revolutionize the lifestyle app ecosystem and drive global adoption of the web3.

STEPN partners with Adidas to launch NFT sneakers

In an April 15 blog post, monetized gaming platform STEPN confirmed a strategic partnership with global luxury sports brand Adidas. This groundbreaking partnership includes multiple activations to provide the community with a complete experience.

Launched in July 2021, STEPN is a revenue-generating platform focused on motivating individuals to remain physically active. Since its inception, STEPN has gained significant traction among cryptocurrency enthusiasts and currently boasts over 5 million users. STEPN is rated as one of the leading revenue-generating web3 applications.

By encouraging exercise through rewards, the app asks users to purchase virtual Sneaker NFTs, connect their smartphones, and earn rewards for walking, jogging or running. The M2E platform envisions blending the $385 billion gaming industry and the $1.5 trillion wellness industry through various cryptocurrency innovations.

Meanwhile, Adidas is another global leader in the sporting goods industry, founded on August 18, 1949. Luxury sports brand Adidas currently employs more than 59,000 people worldwide. In 2022, sports brand Adidas posted sales of 22.5 billion euros.

STEPN x Adidas sneakers NFT collection

Under the new partnership, STEPN and Adidas are expected to join blockchain capabilities to create a fixed supply of 1000 created NFT sneakers. The STEPN x Adidas Genesis sneakers are co-branded with STEPN’s lightning bolt logo and Adidas’ Three Stripes. NFT collections are created on the Solana blockchain network.

The STEPN x Adidas Genesis sneaker collection will be sold via the MOOAR marketplace and will be priced at 10,000 STEPN base GMT. Commenting on the new partnership, Shiti Manghani, CEO of STEPN, said:

“This collaboration between STEPN and adidas highlights how powerful it is to be able to move and earn in both the virtual and real worlds simultaneously. “The fact that physical and digital (or ‘phygital’) partnerships between the most widely used lifestyle apps and global brands like Adidas are now a reality is indicative of where lifestyle rewards are heading.”

The new collaboration comes just months after STEPN signed another partnership with digital artist Steve Aoki to build the AoK1Verse ecosystem. Last August, Adidas Originals partnered with BAPE for a limited-edition sneaker collaboration paired with a digital twin NFT version.
