POKT Network welcomes three new gateways, providing open data access to millions of end users.

Georgetown, Cayman Islands, April 9, 2024, Chainwire

Developers DAO, Raid Guild, and Chainstack will bring their networks and distributions to the POKT Network and build on the POKT Network’s decentralized infrastructure, giving more developers read/write access to over 60 blockchains.

POKT Network, a user management platform building the Universal RPC Base Layer, today announced the launch of three new gateways. Developer DAO, porter (support raid guild), and chain stack. The new gateway is a key part of POKT Network’s growth strategy to expand API access to all public data sources on the Internet.

The gateway acts as an independent access point to the POKT network, improving data accessibility and network performance. Each gateway is built directly on the POKT network’s universal RPC base layer infrastructure, eliminating the need to build and maintain underlying infrastructure, allowing players such as Developer DAO, Porters, and Chainstack to operate as independent RPC businesses. The innovation of gateways lies in the ability for all kinds of enterprises, whether centralized or decentralized, to resell access to their infrastructure by leveraging blockchain protocols as a central coordinating party. The system adopts a unique business model that provides the benefits of vertical integration through a decentralized network rather than a single centralized entity. That means more benefits are shared across more businesses. Protocols benefit from greater demand for their core services, while gateways benefit from significantly faster time to market, lower operating costs, and more time and resources to focus on the business front-end. The launch of these gateways is a huge step forward in POKT Network’s mission to provide developers and enterprises with the most reliable, high-performing, and cost-effective data so they can focus on building the best applications with optimal user experiences.

“The introduction of these three major new gateways marks a significant step forward for the POKT Network and the wider ecosystem,” said Dermot O’Riordan, Director of the POKT Network Foundation. “Just as L2 fundamentally improves scalability at the application layer, our gateway allows builders to easily connect to POKT’s cost-effective, reliable, and scalable DePIN infrastructure without sacrificing performance or UX. “By accommodating access and demand at a scale never seen before, we are not only expanding network capabilities, but laying the foundation for a future where access to large-scale open data sources is free, secure, and universally available.”

Since 2017, POKT Network has developed the leading Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN), achieving exceptional elasticity, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. The network guarantees sub-25ms latency and 100% uptime across 60+ blockchains supported by approximately 15,000 nodes in 22 countries, and costs $0.85 per million API requests. Originally operating with a single gateway, POKT demonstrated the impact of new gateways on POKT capacity, with a second gateway launched in October 2023 quickly taking up approximately 30% of network volume. This marked the beginning of an accelerated rollout of the strategy. By integrating its third gateway in March and launching three more today, POKT Network has increased its gateway count to six, a rapid expansion from one seven months ago, highlighting a significant expansion of its gateway strategy.

“POKT Network’s gateway strategy provides developers and RPC providers with an easy way to leverage RPC infrastructure with enterprise-level quality of service on top of a permissionless, distributed RPC infrastructure network without having to build and maintain their own.” Director Daniel Olshansky said: Protocol of the POKT network. “The most important innovation is the ability to separate roles and responsibilities. Protocol participants maintain an efficient infrastructure, gateways focus on performance, and users have access to reliable, high-performing, and cost-effective services.” The introduction of three new gateways allows builders to access and build a powerful, decentralized infrastructure that will be the backbone of the evolving Machine-to-Machine (M2M) world.

  • Developer DAO: Developer DAO, founded by Nader Dabit of EigenLayer, is the first gateway owned and operated by a DAO, converting RPC revenues back into public goods. Our focus on community and our broader network of builders will further foster innovation and network growth. Developer DAO highlights a model where technology advances the public good through strategic partnerships with leading blockchain networks.
  • Porter: Leveraging the technical talent of the Raid Guild, a leading collective of web3 developers who have supported nearly 200 web3 development projects, Porters will deliver features and services at unprecedented speed while adhering to open source principles. Porters envisions a new era of decentralized infrastructure, a platform built by developers, for developers, leading a new wave of innovation and empowerment.
  • Chainstack: Chainstack, one of the largest and most respected RPC businesses and providers on Infura’s multichain RPC network DIN, will use the POKT network to hyperscale to new chains and further improve existing resiliency, providing significant volume of channels to the network from day one. We are ready. Expecting initial relay volumes of up to 100 million relays per day, Chainstack indicates its intention to scale operations quickly.

Blockworks Research’s first DePIN report highlights the importance of trusted RPC: “As the number of blockchains and rollups continues to grow, throughput increases, block times become shorter, and collective demands become more demanding, high-performance RPC is required for all operations. Blockchain has become very clear.” The report also highlights POKT’s gateway model as a signal of how DePIN will scale both in web3 and broader use cases. L2) for the basic protocol,” he added. “As the POKT Network demonstrates the benefits of this approach, we expect other DePINs to adopt a similar playbook, rapidly accelerating their growth and innovation.”

The Future of Decentralized Data Access with Shannon Upgrade

POKT Network’s Shannon upgrade, scheduled for a summer 2024 release, simplifies the integration of RPC providers and projects by removing current restrictions and introducing permissionless gateway creation to achieve full censorship resistance. The update, currently on private testnet, aims to reduce costs, ease data access across blockchain and AI, and promote collaboration rather than competition. This represents a significant advancement in distributed data infrastructure, expanding the range of supported use cases and fostering innovation.
