We apologize for the power outage this morning. My web server hosting provider (Render) has experienced a major outage. Within 10 minutes, hundreds of notifications were pouring in from the error tracking service.

To stop these attacks and prevent them from exceeding their service quotas, we have decided to shut down the servers until the underlying issues are resolved.

Sometimes I’m surprised that “this Internet thing” works just as well as it does! SwingTradeBot relies on perhaps a dozen different platforms, data providers, and APIs to function. And I’m sure many of them have their own upstream dependencies. It’s like “the turtle goes all the way down.”

It’s been about 18 months since we moved our site to our current provider and the service has been extremely reliable. Outages were rare and typically lasted less than five minutes. Hopefully we won’t see anything like this again. However, if stability is an issue, rest assured we will move to another platform.
