Reynolds Foundation donates $1 million to fund Bitcoin and open source projects

OpenSats, a non-profit organization that supports the development of free and open source software and projects focused on Bitcoin, today announced that it has received a $1,000,000 donation from the Reynolds Foundation.

“As new supporters of OpenSats, we deeply appreciate the opportunity to join a community that champions the acceleration of freedom while demonstrating transparency, professionalism, and inclusivity.” Dr. Álvaro Salas-Castro, President and CEO, Reynolds Foundation. “We strongly believe that the process is as important as the outcome. OpenSats is a testament to the power of both. Our organization embraces ‘togetherness’ – a shared mantra of joyful optimism paired with a pragmatic approach. “The ethos fostered by the Reynolds Foundation under the visionary leadership of founder Tim Reynolds embodies our commitment to freedom and scalability.”

The Reynolds Foundation’s donations will be used exclusively to support open source projects and contributors participating in Freedom Technologies. OpenSats’ operating budget is separately funded, allowing 100% of donations to be dedicated to funding open source initiatives, the release said.

OpenSats also encouraged fellow philanthropists to join their mission and contribute to funding open source Bitcoin development. Individuals and organizations aligned with OpenSats’ mission are also invited to apply for grants here , according to the announcement.

These funding opportunities allow passionate contributors working on Bitcoin and free technology to access the resources they need to support their projects.
