Last year’s wave of hype for monetizing games by tapping on Telegram may have died down, but one new title is scrapping the tapping part and attracting tons of users as a result. Even if it feels less like a game than a game. Someone else.
Zoo is the messaging platform’s new hit, bringing a FarmVille-style vibe to the Telegram gaming world with the promise of token payouts for players. Build your zoo and fill it with more and more animals to earn more in-game currency. Yes. When the airdrop arrives, it will be converted to on-chain tokens.
There are a few more things to do, from daily riddles and quizzes to joining groups of other players and, of course, feeding the animals. Nonetheless, Zoo is a very idle game and not one that will keep you glued to the screen and actively engaged for hours at a time.
There isn’t much to Zoo on Telegram, but with a token airdrop likely coming soon, there are certainly worse ways to waste your time. Everything you need to know about Zoo is here.
What is a zoo?
Zoo is Telegram’s latest hit game and can be considered adjacent to the tap-to-win games that dominate the space in 2024. But instead of tapping random objects, you build a zoo full of exotic animals. It provides passive income that continues to feed you.
This is essentially a cross between Farmville and Zoo Tycoon. Select a square to place your new animal enclosure, then watch your coins attract visitors to your zoo.
This isn’t the most complex game in the world and is more passive than many tap-to-earn games. But like most games with a slightly unique idea in the Telegram space, it’s managed to garner a ton of users. Over the past few weeks. To date, more than 14 million accounts have interacted with the app, and that number is growing every day.
Additionally, it is already in the final stages of the mining phase and you can play to win some tokens in the final airdrop. Details about exactly how it will work are not available on site, but the mining phase ends on January 31st. So if you want to enjoy the fun of the zoo, you have to act fast.
How to Play Zoo on Telegram
Zoo is incredibly easy to play, and you’ll barely need to play it once you start. To get started, you need to go to Telegram and launch the Zoo mini app. This app guides you through the starting steps of setting up your zoo.
To get started, you need to tap on an empty square on the map and purchase animal cages to fill that space. Once you have at least one animal, you start earning in-game Zoo Tokens. The developer says these tokens will correspond 1:1 with airdropped on-chain tokens in future airdrops. You can earn more per hour by purchasing more animals, and more tokens can be earned by purchasing more expensive animals.
Animals can passively earn tokens while being fed, or by pressing the feed button. However, this requires animal feed, another in-game currency that is also used to purchase new animals. So make sure you don’t spend all your cash on new additions at the expense of what you can afford to feed your existing animals.
This is essentially the meat of the game, but since it doesn’t replenish automatically, you’ll end up spending most of your time trying to get more animal feed currency. You can claim daily login bonuses and complete tasks like daily riddles or social activities to ensure you have enough animal food to keep your creatures happy and bring more money into your zoo.
When will the ZOO airdrop take place?
The ZOO token airdrop date has not been confirmed, but we understand that the mining period is scheduled to end on January 31st.
At the end of the month, you will no longer be able to earn Zoo Tokens in-game. This probably means that the in-game Zoo tokens will be matched 1:1 with the on-chain tokens, thus setting up the airdrop allocation. So, if you end the month with 1 million Zoo tokens in the game, you will receive 1 million ZOO tokens via airdrop.
Zoo’s token will likely be launched on The Open Network (TON) as it will allow you to connect your TON wallet and use TON to purchase certain benefits, such as animal feed bundles. Developers have yet to confirm that ZOO will launch on TON, and while we saw Telegram Games switch ecosystems not long before the airdrop, TON seems the most likely, at least for now.
